The University Libraries Colloquium Series Presents:
Learning Styles: Science or Myth?
Kristin Hall, Library Assessment and Learning Outcomes Specialist
Asian Pacific Americans and Libraries
Janet H. Clarke, Associate Dean of Research & User Engagement, Stony Brook University Libraries, and Raymond Pun, First Year Student Success Librarian, California State University-Fresno
Kristin Hall will be discussing the research that frames learning styles and how this has influenced student habits as well as instructional methods. Many people have taken learning style assessment tests to determine if they are a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner. How does this help the learning process? Effective learning strategies will also be discussed.
In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, Janet H. Clarke and Raymond Pun will present highlights of their recently published volume, Asian American Librarians and Library Services: Activism, Collaborations, and Strategies (2018, Rowman & Littlefield). They will discuss best practices and challenges of libraries supporting Asian Pacific American communities, curriculum, and research.
