SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence

Three members of SBU Libraries are recipients of this year’s SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence. These awards are meant to recognize and celebrate “consistently superior professional achievement” across the SUNY system. We couldn’t be happier to see our colleagues noted for their hard work and innovative approaches to supporting the University Libraries mission.

Excellence in Librarianship

Christine Fena
Christine is the Libraries Undergraduate Success Librarian. She works closely with the Program in Writing and Rhetoric and the History Department and is continually developing innovative and engaging ways to connect students to the research process.

Laurel Scheinfeld
Laurel is a Health Sciences Librarian who supports the School of Social Welfare, the School of Dental Medicine, and the Center for Medical Humanities and Bioethics. She is a Distinguished Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals and maintains Level I and II Systematic Review Services Specialization certifications from the Medical Library Association.

Excellence in Professional Service

John Fitzgerald
John is a Senior Programmer Analyst and an invaluable part of Library IT. He has demonstrated a proven track record of high technical expertise and dedication to enhancing library services. He is at the forefront of efforts to understand and effectively integrate artificial intelligence into library operations.
