University Libraries are proud to host the Ready for Success Summit on improving high school student research skills. This event on March 15th will bring together teachers, librarians, and school administrators from more than 50 school districts across Long Island. We will be talking about the value of critical thinking and research skills and how to teach them.
Can students today find, evaluate, and use information in an effective and ethical way? We’ll be highlighting SBU’s grant-funded information literacy project with Brentwood High School, sharing best practices and strategies to embed research skills across multiple disciplines and departments as well as finding ways to strengthen the role of the school media specialist.
Dr. Brenda Boyer, Assistant Professor in the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University, will give the keynote address: “Empowering Minds and Bridging Gaps: The Crucial Role of Information Literacy.”
Principal investigators of the Ready for Success grant are Janet Clarke, Christine Fena, and Chris Kretz.
