Back in early December, Stony Brook University Libraries was chosen to be in a nationally televised news video, conducted by award-winning journalist, Soledad O’Brien. “Matter of Fact” with Soledad O’Brien came to Stony Brook University to investigate the idea that “…each generation will do better than the last. But fewer Americans earn more than their parents.”
The American Dream Under Threat: Does Higher Education Need a Change focuses on the role that attending college plays on creating upward mobility for lower-income students. O’Brien, a 2011 Emmy Award winner and Honorary Doctor of Letters from Stony Brook University, interviewed faculty, staff and students alike, right here in our very own Main Stacks of the Frank Melville, Jr. Memorial Library.
