By Car

Take the Long Island Expressway (Route 495) to Exit 62. Follow Nicolls Road (Route 97) north for 9 miles. To find the campus via GPS, enter the address “100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, NY 11790.”

By Train

Stony Brook Station is located along the Long Island Rail Road, Port Jefferson line. From Penn Station in Manhattan, travel time is approximately one and a half hours. A free shuttle service is available at Stony Brook Station towards the Humanities Building.

By Ferry

From Bridgeport, Connecticut to Port Jefferson, Long Island. From New London, Connecticut to Orient Point, Long Island, take Route 25A west to Nicolls Road and proceed as indicated in “By Car” directions.

By Plane

Long Island’s Islip-MacArthur Airport is 16 miles from the campus and is serviced by direct flights by major airlines and commuter lines. New York City Area Airports (JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark) are 50 miles to the west.

Free Parking

Except for 24-Hour Restricted lots and spaces, anyone may park in any non-metered lot from 4:00PM to 7:00AM weekdays and all weekend. Spaces in metered lots are enforced 7:00AM to 7:00PM, Monday through Friday.

Check for signs at parking lot entrances for restrictions.

$4.00 per hour / $28.00 per day.

Located next to the Stony Brook Administration Building.

Metered Lots

$2.50 per hour / $17.50 per day

Located at Red Faculty/Staff parking lots (see map). Meters are enforced 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday. Payment is by credit or debit card.
