Welcome! Please Pardon Our Rubble

There are changes afoot in the Central Reading Room!

We know you’re excited, but please don’t sit here just yet.

As you may have noticed, a pile of rubble in the form of dismantled shelving units has been taped off for some time near the journal section of the Library’s Central Reading Room.  Have no fear, it did not collapse due to safety or structural issues.  Rather, it is being removed to create valuable new study space to accommodate students who come to the Library for the relatively quiet atmosphere it offers.  As many of our journals and other reading materials are now being transitioned online, shelves were freed up and were no longer in use.  It is our plan to move these units to another location and replace them with study tables for patron use.  We hope you will enjoy this small remodel, especially near exam time when empty tables can be hard to come by.

Where is your favorite place to study in the Library?  Share with us your favorite location and the reason it earns your preference.  We will try our best to provide more such popular seating arrangements in the future as the Library strives to create a more patron friendly environment. Email us with your ideas.
