Presentation of the Library of Congress‑Anniversary Book on Friday, October 18 at 7 p.m.:
Explorers, Emigrants, Citizens: A Visual History of the Italian American Experience with co‑author Mario B. Mignone (Stony Brook University).

On Friday, October 18 at 7 p.m., Dr. Mignone  and a guest panel will discuss the Italian American experience as seen through the collections of the Library of Congress. The book, with a foreword by Martin Scorsese,  is co‑authored by an Italian (Antonio Canovi) and an Italian American  (Mario B. Mignone), who share their different perspectives on a long and multi-faceted history. The book features over 500 images, many of them never before published, ranging from the first map ever using the name “America” to portraits of Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe from Look magazine.

Books will be available for purchase and autographing by the authors.  Location: Stony Brook University’s Center for Italian Studies in the Frank Melville, Jr. Memorial Library, Room E-4340 (fourth floor).
